Bangladesh agree to visit Pakistan for a full tour

Following a string of lopsided news, emergency conferences, and controversies spanning governmental interferences, Bangladesh Cricket Board has agreed to send its national teams for a near full-fledged tour of Pakistan, split across three separate time frames.

Earlier, after the discussions between the two Boards reached a standstill, it was feared that the prospect of Bangladesh making a trip to Pakistan was all but gone. However, following extended talks between the Chairman of PCB and his counterpart in BCB, a consensus has been reached on the series.

The series, which will be included into the Future Tours Programme soon, is scheduled to comprise of three T20Is, a one-off ODI, as well as two Tests. It comes as a major boost to Pakistan’s hopes of completely reviving international Cricket at home without having to host their home games at neutral venues.

The first leg of the tour consists of the three T20Is that will be played from January 24 to 27, in Lahore. Bangladesh will then depart the country, arriving 10 days later for the 1st Test of the ICC World Test Championship which is scheduled to be hosted by Rawalpindi from February 7 to 11.

The third and final leg of this much-awaited tour will commence after the Pakistan Super League has concluded in Lahore on March 22. Bangladesh will return again to Pakistan for a one-off ODI at Karachi on April 3 followed by the second Test and the final match of the tour from April 5 to 9.

Speaking about the recent development, PCB’s Chairman Ehsan Mani said: “I am pleased that we have amicably achieved a resolution that is in the best interest of this great sport as well as both the proud cricket playing countries. I also want to thank ICC Chairman Shaskank Manohar for the leadership he provided and ensured the sport continues to grow and thrive in the two countries.”
